Here are some commonly asked real estate questions
How much home can I afford?
A good rule of thumb is to keep your mortgage payments to no more than 25% of your monthly income. Although you may qualify for financing with less income, you want to have breathing room in your budget.
How much do I need for a down payment?
The more you put down, the smaller your monthly payments will be! But generally you should plan to put a minimum of 5-10% down.
What should I consider when choosing areas to look for a new home?
Consider the distance to all locations you visit frequently, such as your place of employment, schools, doctors offices, etc. Also, what is important to you in the community you are looking to move into? (Examples: community pool, gym, park, restaurants in close proximity, etc)
When should I contact a Realtor?
As soon as you are thinking about buying or selling.
When can my Realtor start showing me homes?
After you are pre-approved for financing by a lender if you will be applying for a mortgage , or after verification of funds if you are a cash buyer.
What will my Realtor ask me during a home buyers consultation?
How soon are you looking to move? How do you plan to pay for the home? If financing, have you been pre-approved by a lender? If no, I can recommend preferred lenders if you don’t have one in mind. If you have been pre-approved, I will need to obtain pre-approval letter in order to proceed. Other questions will follow to assess your wants and needs in what you are looking for in a new home. And you may have questions for me also!
